Mama Lewis AKA Stacie Lewis would like to still consider herself a teacher and a writer. However, Baby May has different ideas. Baby May is in control.
Stacie is American, raised in the suburbs of Detroit, though she has lived for over ten years in London, England. She recently became a dual-citizen of Britain. As a result, she drinks a lot of tea. She can’t help it, she’s British.
Stacie writes for the Momformation Blog on BabyCenter. Her articles about May have been published in The New York Times (Motherlode), The Guardian and The Independent. She is also the author of Taking the Plunge, a book about the terrible, and terribly funny, planning of her wedding. You can read more about the book at www.stacielewis.com.

Hi Stacie,
Just a ‘Hi’ from a fellow Snowbooks author. That’s one cute baby, btw. I still try to get mine to wear hoods with ears, but as they are 6 and 8 they won’t, well, wear it now. Keep writing!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your article in the Guardian. I too had a baby in SCBU and identified with you comments about not spending 24 hours a day in there gazing adoringly at our little one. To be honest, I’m not sure she even knew who we were ’til about 3 months old. I also had a 3 year old at home who need caring for.
I wish you and May all the best for the future and look forward to hearing more about your beautiful little girl.
Hi Stacie,
I have too read the article in THe Guardian and was amazed at everything you have been through. I am sure you will get alot of responses from it, especially from people who have been through similar situations. I too have a duaghter with developmental delay, swallowing difficulties and epilpsy. We have been in and around hospitals with her throughout her 6 years. But she is still my daughter and she is gorgreous.
I wish you all the best for the future and never give up!!
Hi Stacie, I just left a comment on your post about your article in the Guardian and then read this page. Couldn’t resist writing another comment, as I’m from Michigan as well, not far from Detroit either. I also spent time in London as my husband Australian-British. What a small world this is! Looking forward to catching up on the rest of your blog.
It is a small world! I read your blog months ago when I was in Michigan visiting family.
I’m so glad you wrote in to me. I’ve put a link to your blog on my site.
Hi Stacie,
I just read your article in The Guardian and wanted to say how touched I was – such an honest & personal story, so inspirational and so full of love. I wish you and your family all happiness.

Sorry for the delay in posting this. It was sent to my spam folder.
Yes, SCBU is hard work. I’ve never been so exhausted – and I didn’t have another one at home like you!
Hi Stacie, I’m a new reader of your blog and may I say, you’re a brave, brave mum, and May is a brave, brave little girl. I just read May’s birth story and I can’t even imagine what emotions you were going through then. I applaud you for writing with such raw honesty. And I shall be coming back to follow your adventures.
Congratulations on pregnancy #2!
Hi Stacie,
I just got to your blog after reading your article on great toys for special needs kids on Babycenter. My cousin has a child with Down Syndrome, and it’s always nice to have gift ideas for him!
Just wanted to say “hi” as I read you are from a suburb of Detroit…we live in Macomb Township. Your daughter is beautiful, I wish you much luck when #2 arrives! 🙂 It’s definitely twice the fun lol
Take care,
Christina
Hey Christina! We are practically neighbors (that is if I hadn’t moved to London) – Oakland County!
Hi Stacie:
Heather gave me the great news. Congratulation on the safe arrival of your new son. He is a most welcome addition to the family. Daddy must be bursting with pride, and handing out lots of cigars. Send my love to Grandma Barb, Ed, and everyone – and a special hug for little May.
Fondly,
Cousin Frima
Thanks Frima! We are all very happy here and it has been so wonderful having Mom here to share it all.
